I've always known that there is an absurd number of things for me to appreciate in my life currently, but it felt important to make a record of it for posterity sake.

A mailbox on the side of the road

Dear reader,

Welcome back! Once again I won't waste your time belaboring and/or continuing to beat the dead horse about the significance, importance, and benefits of a gratitude process for people. It is a straight up established principle that practicing gratitude regularly is healthy & helpful. It helps establish new neural pathways in the brain that support you moving towards a more fulfilling life for yourself.

Now that we have gone through all that, let us dive in to my sincere & heartfelt letter of gratitude to the Universe that has given me far more than a punk like myself deserves:

For those of you that might not know, despite being a therapist, I have been a chronic worrier for as long as I can remember, dating as far back to when I had not even grown my glorious beard yet (we are talking single digit ages compadres).

To help mitigate and ideally reduce the impact of these worries, I try to remind myself of all the insane things in my life I need to be grateful for in my life.

Universe, I am now going to do my best to regularly express my gratitude for the myriad of blessings you continue to bestow to me, starting with the foundation that almost all my other wins & successes rest upon:

  • My charming & hilarious daughter

    • My daughter is an absolute riot. She has got more wit than any six (almost seven! Growing up just too damn fast!) year old has a right to have, and if I am being completely honest/transparent, she might also have picked up a mouth like a well educated sailor (definitely no chance she picked that up from her parents who are the same way, right?).

    • She also warms my heart on such a regular basis, filling me with so much love and compassion. She frequently has these moments where she will think or say the most incredibly insightful things that absolutely blow me away.

    • Additionally, she is freaking funny as hell. Especially when she gets the wiggles/goofiness in her soul, it’s damn near impossible to not have a grin so big it makes your jaw hurt.

    • I’ve loved getting to have more time to be present together with her ever since I transitioned to private practice full time. Our trips to school and back home each day radiate with beauty and joy.
